Pictures with nowhere else to go

This section is pictures that don't fit into the other sections. Some of these are experimental, some funny.

We were in Alnwick when this gentleman walked past us. Luckily at end of the street he turned round and walked back so I go a second chance. I've cropped out the crowd and reduced the intensity of the shop behind him.

This the last of about ten shots taken at the same spot at Shipley Lock on the Erewash Canal. I was experimenting with shutter speed, flash and apature to try and get the right amount of blur in the water. I'd like to claim that this pictures is what I intended but it's more a case of the one that worked.

This is Eastwook lock walking from Shipley Lock toward the Great Northern Basin. I was drawn to the stark contrast of the blacks and whites - but this doesn't work as a mono picture.

This is the M1 near Nottingham at around 6pm on a cold November evening. However all is not as it seems. I stood on a bridge over the motorway and took a series of shots changing the shutter speed from about 2 seconds to 5 seconds or so. Reviewing them I wasn't happy with any of the exposures so as an experiment I overlayed them using lighten in Photoshop. An adjustment to levels and this is the result.

In Mansfield there is a statue dedicated to the Miners. One of the few claims Mansfield has, or rather had, is mining. This statue stands overlooking a busy junction. I shot this shortly after sunrise in November.

I've oftem wanted to try this type of shot but never had a picture that I thought would work. In full colour this shot is very lacking but I think this treatment has salvaged a it.

A slightly different take on the lake at Moorgreen, Notts. This is my second attempt at this type of shot and not onlt have I desaturated the background and masked out the Life Belt but I've also applied a hus/saturation layer to the background to really emphasise the reds.

The humour here is in the title "End Of The Line". If you want to kno why I find it funny you'll have to email me.

Lastly a few obvious funnies. I promise these are photographs taken in public places and have not been changes except as stated.

This was hanging at a shop. To kill the glare I've shot from the side and then cropped with perspective in Photoshop. This really does sum up my job.

This is totally untouched - This sign is in Southport and was shot may 2004. In front of this sign is a while square where, I assume, you are free to protest!
